Silang, Cavite – Saint Paul Seminary Foundation (SPSF) is set to host the highly anticipated 4th Philosophy, Communication, and Culture (PCC) Conference from February 28 to March 1, 2025. Themed “LAKBAYANIHAN: Nurturing Human Identity with the Culture of Hope,” this year’s conference will welcome approximately 100 participants to the SPSF campus in Silang, Cavite, for an immersive exploration of Filipino identity in the digital age, coinciding with the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope.

To open the two-day event, Fr. Norman Melchor R. Peña, Jr., SSP, Ph.D., Rector and Dean of Studies at SPSF, will deliver a keynote message centered on the conference theme, “LAKBAYANIHAN: Nurturing Human Identity with the Culture of Hope,” setting the stage for a dynamic exploration of Filipino identity, collective action, and the cultivation of hope in the digital era.

PCC 2025 offers a vibrant platform for meaningful dialogue, intellectual exchange, and creative exploration, serving as a catalyst for informed action and social transformation. The “Lakbayanihan” theme underscores the vital importance of collective action in fostering hope and building a more resilient future for the Filipino community and the world.

A Stellar Lineup of Keynote Speakers:

The conference features an impressive roster of keynote speakers, each a leading figure in their respective fields:

  • Pola del Monte: Award-winning content creator, journalist, and editorial leader, Pola will share her insights on harnessing social media for advocacy and positive change, drawing on her extensive experience working with major media outlets like CNN, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and The New York Times.
  • Dr. James Loreto C. Piscos: A distinguished professor and researcher in cultural anthropology and theology, Dr. Piscos will explore the profound connection between communal unity (pakighiusa) and ancient Visayan traditions, offering a unique perspective on Filipino cultural heritage.
  • Dr. Jeane Peracullo: A leading voice in environmental and feminist philosophy, Dr. Peracullo will delve into the Filipino concept of dalamhati as a framework for environmental activism, inspiring action against the climate crisis.
  • Dr. Xiao Chua: Renowned public historian and media personality, Dr. Chua will examine the concept of salya within the context of the Black Nazarene procession, shedding light on the dynamics of bayanihan and Filipino faith.

Engaging Workshops to Empower Participants:

PCC 2025 offers a diverse range of interactive workshops designed to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge: Ben Carlo N. Atim will lead a session on philosophical research as a tool for transformative action; Hannah Adtoon Leceña will guide a poetry writing workshop exploring themes of hope and love; Keneth C. Gadian will share insights into hope-based communication for advocacy; Fr. Norman Melchor R. Peña, Jr. will explore the significance of sacred spaces in contemporary Filipino life; Ryan Pinzon will delve into the art of creating impactful content for social media; and Makò Micro-Press will facilitate a hands-on zine-making workshop.

Scholarly Dialogue through Concurrent Paper Presentations:

The conference will also feature concurrent paper presentations, providing a forum for scholarly exchange on a wide array of topics related to philosophy, communication, and culture. These presentations will explore themes such as faith and community building, Filipino identity and cultural practices, social media’s impact, ethics and morality, environmentalism and hope, digital communities, politics and disinformation, the impact of technology on the human condition, and the role of education in shaping identity.

The 4th PCC Conference promises to be a significant event for anyone passionate about exploring Filipino identity, fostering a culture of hope, and engaging in meaningful dialogue.
