SPSF Opens Academic Year with Holy Spirit Mass
Silang, Cavite – August 2, 2024 – Saint Paul Seminary Foundation (SPSF) commenced the 2024-2025 Academic Year with a solemn Mass of the Holy Spirit on August 1, 2024. Held in the seminary’s Conversion of St. Paul Chapel, the Mass brought together a diverse community of seminarians, religious women, guest students, rectors, superiors, formators, faculty, and staff.

Fr. Micha Miguel Competente, SSP, served as the main celebrant, while Fr. Norman Melchor Pena Jr., SSP, delivered the homily. Concelebrating priests included SSP formators and seminary rectors Fr. Julius Chelanga, SMA, and Fr. Jickson Joseph, MSFS. Students from various congregations, including the Daughters of St. Paul, Pastorelle Sisters, Society of African Missions, and Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales, joined the St. Paul seminarians in the celebration.
Fr. Norman’s homily emphasized the transformative nature of Catholic education, echoing Blessed James Alberione’s call for students not only to become good Christians but also to strive for sainthood. He underscored that true education extends beyond intellectual development to encompass the holistic formation of the person, a principle central to SPSF’s vision and mission.

Following the Mass, a shared lunch fostered a sense of community and unity among the SPSF staff and students, symbolizing the Holy Spirit’s unifying presence. The event marked a hopeful beginning to the new academic year, invoking divine guidance and inspiration for the SPSF community as they embark on their journey of faith and learning.
