Dressed up with the traditional Filipino attire such as Barong Tagalog, neck scarf, and buri hats, seminarians of the Society of Saint Paul (SSP) swayed their hands and stepped their feet back and forth in the sound of music as they rendered their own Sinulog dance around the seminary compound, January 15.
Right after the mass in honor of the Holy Child Jesus popularly known as the Santo Niño, the seminarians including other mass-goers such as the nuns of the Daughters of Saint Paul followed the image as it was being processioned around the seminary compound.
The image was first carried from the altar by Fr. Leopoldo Botavarra, Jr., SSP-Silang Community Superior and who himself is the main celebrant during the mass. It was then received by the seminarians and the other mass-goers as all shout the words “Viva Senor Santo Niño” and “Pit Señor!”
Seminarians enjoyed their own rendition after which they posted photos and videos of the event in their social media accounts.
“Spontaneous, malikot, nakangisi. Sa ilang minutong pag-indak sa tugtog, parang bumalik ang lahat sa pagiging bata: munti, simple, masaya… Malaya,” wrote Keneth Gadian, fourth year seminarian, in his Facebook post, describing the event.
