Silang, Cavite — Saint Paul Seminary Foundation Celebrates Mass of the Holy Spirit to Open Formation Year 2025–2026

On June 20, 2025, the Saint Paul Seminary Foundation solemnly celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit to formally mark the beginning of the Formation Year 2025–2026. This cherished annual tradition gathers the entire seminary community in prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit’s guidance, wisdom, and strength for the academic and formative journey ahead.
Held six days after the acceptance of the first-year aspirants and four days following the opening of classes, the Eucharistic celebration brought together formators, faculty, staff, and seminarians from various congregations, including the Society of Saint Paul (SSP), Missionary of Saint Francis de Sales (MSFS) and the Society of African Missions (SMA).

The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Norman Melchor N. Peña, SSP, Ph.D., Seminary Rector and Dean of Studies, and was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Pete Barisoro, SSP, community confessor; Rev. Fr. Micha Miguel Competente, SSP, Prefect of Discipline; Rev. Fr. Samy Torrefranca, SSP, National Vocation Director; and Rev. Fr. Leopoldo Botavera III, SSP, Local Superior. Also present on the altar was Rev. Ronel Soriano, SSP.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the seminary community—together with friends, visitors, and members of other congregations—shared a festive meal, symbolizing unity and gratitude as they welcomed the new formation year.
The afternoon continued with a general orientation for all seminarians, followed by the election of the new Student Council Officers—marking not only the beginning of a new academic year but also the promise of a renewed community, guided by the light and grace of the Holy Spirit.
