SILANG, CAVITE — On the 26th of September, alongside the thesis proposal defense of the AB Philosophy students, St. Paul Seminary opened its doors to altar servers from San Isidro Labrador Parish of Ligtong Rosario Cavite, for their “Dalaw Seminaryo.â€
Taking place at the Tanghalang Timoteo Giaccardo, our visitors were welcomed by Fr. Leopoldo “Nonong” Botavara III, SSP, Local Superior.
Fr. Nonong, in his opening remarks and message of inspiration, recognized the duty of altar servers as a responsibility to cherish. He also reminded the servers that their service at the altar should continually inspire and guide them in a life of faithful service.
Through a brief step back from their duties and responsibilities, the altar servers were invited to pause and reflect on their own journey.
Sem. Gerick Tolentino in a reflection talk on vocation and seminary life, mentioned that each person has a story to tell, and that every story carry unique encounters where each of them is a missing piece in the bigger puzzle that is being formed. The ð—–ð—¢ð— ð— ð™ð—¡ð—œð—§ð—¬ with which they journey, he said, will never be complete without “ð™.â€
They then went on a tour around the seminary vicinity, exploring the four wheels of the Pauline Life. Piety, Apostolate, Community, and Academic. Through each of the stations, the visitors were given a glimpse into the different aspects of seminary formation, and how these four wheels shape the daily life of a Pauline Seminarian.
In the closing program some of the altar servers shared their experiences from their time at the seminary. As a simple token, those who shared their takeaways were given a small keepsake to remind them of their visit and the moments shared throughout the afternoon.
Their visit to St. Paul Seminary concluded with inspiring words from Fr. Norman Melchor Peña, SSP, Rector and Dean of Studies who reminded everyone to first know who they are before God, so they may better understand what they are called to do.
All journeys lead to an end, and likewise at the end of the day, it is good to take a moment to breathe. But most importantly as servers, whether in the ministry, or seminary, we all are called to let God breathe through us. True enough, We are called to tell the story.
